The September Full Moon - Harvest Moon is named the Harvest Moon as it usually appears just around the Autumn Equinox
The Harvest Moon unlike all the other full Moons, rises just about the same time—around sunset—for several evenings in a row. This gives farmers extra moonlight and allowing them to finish their harvests before the frosts of fall arrive

Fun Fact
While September’s full Moon is usually known as the Harvest Moon, if October’s full Moon happens to occur closer to the equinox than September’s, it takes on the name “Harvest Moon” instead. In this case, September’s full Moon is referred to as the Corn Moon. -Old Farmers Almanac-
The Corn Moon
When Septembers Full Moon appears before the Autumn Equinox, this is when it is called The Corn Moon. This is the time of harvesting corn in much of the northern United States. This name can also be August's Full Moon to some Native American Tribes.
